Naples High School
Naples, Fl
1992-2009
I transferred to Naples HS in my senior year of school and graduated in 1970. Mr. Jerome Edwards was my band teacher and after being there for 27 years, he retired in the spring of 1992. It was his desire that I should follow him and I became the director in the fall of that year. Since my earliest years of teaching, he guided and taught me the skills necessary to be a good teacher. He was my Obi-Wan, the guiding light in my career, and I attribute so much of my success to the things I learned from him. In retrospect, even the idea of a scrapbook was probably planted in my head due to the one he had at NHS at one time.
My seventeen year tenure at Naples High was the longest period of time that I spent at any school in my career. It wasn't planned but just worked out that way. It would be impossible for me to recap those years in this paragraph, so I won’t try. Instead, here’s my scrapbook that’s filled with newspaper clippings, memorabilia and photos. It’s a mystery to me why I have some of some of these.
